Susan has been a nurse consultant who ran her own clinics based in the community and in private practice since 2003. Since 2007 she has undertaken short-term consultancy projects working alongside clinical teams to improve services for commissioned services and NHS Trusts. In recent years, she was Chair of EULAR Health Professionals Standing Committee but became past chair in 2015,  retired from clinical practice in June 2016 and fully retired in December 2020. In the last few years before her retirement she was committed to supporting rheumatology nursing developments in Asia. Susan finally requested her registration to lapse on the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register at the end of 2020.

Out now 2nd Edition of the Oxford Handbook of Musculoskeletal Nursing

The independent consultancy was established in 2003 and Susan developed a network of associate nurse experts. She had an interest in social enterprise and donated a significant proportion of her time to projects that set out to improve the standards of care for people with all forms of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases.

Susan has been committed to raising awareness of the needs of patients and has actively participated in projects that explore the true impact of chronic conditions such as those with inflammatory joint diseases (for example rheumatoid and osteoarthritis) and how to improve patient outcomes).
