Healthcare professionals Conference and Study Days

There is a calendar of regular events usually held at the same time each year

You can access detailed information on these from the British Society for Rheumatology (www.rheumatology.org.uk) and the British Health Professionals in Rheumatology on the same site. The British Society for Rheumatology also hold an Annual Meeting is held usually at the end of April. Bursaries are available from the BHPR (www.rheumatology.org.uk – and go to BHPR section)


In addition the Royal College of Nursing Rheumatology Forum (www.rcn.org.uk) can be accessed if you are an RCN member.

The Arthritis Research Campaign website are also a useful resource for information on educational events and indeed they also have awards and bursaries available that may help you attend such meetings. (www.arthritisresearchuk.org)


The Royal College of Nursing Rheumatology Forum annual nursing conference – usually held in the early part of the year – January or February or occasionally in the autumn (for further information contact the www.rcn.org.uk) Usually there are two bursaries for RCN RF members to attend the meeting.

The European League Against Rheumatism a European meeting is usually held in the early part of June. There are Eular awards and bursaries that may help those wishing to attend. (www.eular.org.uk)

The National Osteoporosis Society (www.nos.org.uk) hold a conference bi-annually.

The Primary Care Rheumatology Society (www.pcrsociety.org.uk) usually held in the Autumn each year.

All of the above organisations also hold additional training and study days and access their websites will give you an update list.

Pharmaceutical funded courses

There are also useful non promotional but educational events run by a number of the pharmaceutical companies that have an interest in rheumatology management. To get information on these speak to your local hospital representative who can provide information.


Regional Meetings
These are usually run by a regional group lead and information about these may be accessed from the local rheumatology unit.


Nurse Prescribing events

A range of educational events are held by the Nurse Prescribing Centre. www.npc.co.uk
